| Abstract |
This booklet is aimed at landowners, forestry works managers, timber purchasers, contractors and others working in forestry and arboriculture as a Code of Procedure for the avoidance of danger from overhead electric lines and underground electric cables. The recommended liaison procedure should be implemented by landowners and works managers, contractors and electricity companies. overhead electric lines are not normally insulated and, if contact with, or close approach to them is made by a tree, crane boom, loader, tipper, cable crane, ladder, pruning saw, rope or similar object, an electric current will discharge with a risk of fatal or severe electric shock and/or burns to anyone in the immediate vicinity. This document sets out the precautions to be taken to prevent such accidents occurring in and around trees. This code should be read in conjunction with the local electricity company Code of Practice.
