The main aim of the Radiation (Emergency Preparedness and Public Information) Regulations 2001 (REPPIR) and the associated guidance on the Regulations is to: establish a framework for the protection of the public through emergency preparedness for radiation accidents with the potential to affect members of the public, from premises and specified transport operations; and ensure the provision of information to the public in advance in situations where a (REPPIR) radiation emergency might arise; and in the event of any kind of radiation emergency (however it may arise).
