| Abstract |
This guidance is aimed at employers to help them understand the benefits and limitations of effective general ventilation in the workplace.The guide defines general ventilation and gives information on fresh air requirements. It also looks at the principles and use of general ventilation as a means of controlling exposure to substances hazardous to health as required under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH)1999 and the associated Approved Codes of Practice. It gives the current ventilation standards and advises you, the employer, on how to achieve effective general ventilation in your workplace. It outlines the methods used to assess the effectiveness of your ventilation system and sets out the legislation on what you are required to do to ensure effective ventilation.
