| Abstract |
The guidance is intended for those involved in the design, manufacture, examination, supply, importation, and use of go-karts. It lists hazards and outlines the precautions needed to avoid them. It gives advice on design and inspection; buying and selling; track design and maintenance and safe operations. Most advice concerns go-karts used in fairgrounds. However, the guidance is also relevant to go-karts used at separate karting tracks where it should be read in conjunction with 'Health and safety at motor sport events: a guide for employers and organisers ISBN 0717607054. The guidance is not intended to cover all-terrain karts or go-karts used in competitive motor sport events regulated by a recognised motor sport governing body such as the Motor Sports Association. The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and relevant health and safety regulations will continue to apply to these events.
