leaflet. Catering information sheet no. 16 (CAIS 16) |
| Abstract |
All businesses need to display safety signs of some sort but deciding what is needed can be confusing. This information sheet sets out in simple terms what the majority of catering establishments need to do when it comes to displaying safety signs. It does not cover any signs which food hygiene law may require. The guidance includes examples of the most important safety signs and also advice on how these should be displayed. The information sheet is primarily aimed at employers in the catering industry. Most requirements are covered by the Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations 1996. These require signs wherever a risk has not been controlled by other means. Contents; Introduction; Wet floors; Chemical storage; Fire signs; Fire action signs; First aid; Gas pipes and LPG cylinder stores; Fragile roofs; Other signs and posters; Design of signs; What you should do next; Further reading. |
