The National Committee for Safe Manriding in Mineshafts produced two 'Safe Manriding in Shafts and Unwalkable Outlets' reports dated 1976, ISBN:011880491X and 1980, ISBN:0118832816 respectively and a Supplement in 1985, ISBN:0118838326 (available from HMSO), the majority of the recommendations contained in these reports were incorporated into this guidance. A further report has been produced by HSE following an incident in 1997 entitled 'Safe Manriding in Mines, ISBN:0717619893
