| Abstract |
The aim of the work presented here was to assess the slip resistance of a wide range of pre-engineered wooden floors; such materials have become increasingly popular in both domestic and commercial premises over recent years. Despite their current widespread use, little is understood about the slip characteristics of these floors. All of the flooring materials studied were assessed using a range of test methods:Surface microroughness analysis, the pendulum test and the standard HSL ramp test (HSL-PS-SOP-12). This report and the work it describes were funded by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Its contents, including any opinions and/or conclusions expressed, are those of the author alone and do not necessarily reflect HSE policy.
