Abstract This information sheet explains the basic requirements of the Reporting of Injuries, diseases and Dangerous Occurences Regulations 1995 (RIDDOR) in so far as they affect the catering industry. It also provides advice on the problem areas related to reporting of accidents as there is evidence that many people within the industry are confused as to what should be reported, especially where membes of the public, contractors or the self-employed are concerned. The guidance is primarily aimed at employers and it seeks to assist them in tackling some of these uncertainties over what should be reported and when. Contents: What you need to report and who is responsible for making the report; What types of accidents to members of the public are reportable? What types of violence to staff are reportable accidents? What types of accident are reportable involving contractors or those employed by agency or other firm? What happens if the accident involves self-employed contractors? What are major injuries? What are over-three-day injuries? What other categories of incidents must you report? When and how to report; Who do you report accidents to? What records do you need to keep? Further reading; Further information.
