Manual handling of sacks is carried out extensively in the food and drink industries and is one of the main causes of musculoskeletal injury. The guidance is not intended to cover agricultural applications. Contents: Introduction; Manual handling injuries; Risk assessment; Hierarchy of control measures-preventing injuries; Manual handling of sacks - sack weight, frequency of lifting and supply chain issues; Unloading/loading shipping containers; Legal requirements; References; Further reading; Further information. |
