leaflet. Engineering information sheet no. 33 (EIS 33). Other related guidance is 'Health and safety in engineering workshops' HSG129 ISBN 0717617173 |
| Abstract |
This information sheet aims to help machine users carry out an assessment of the risks from ejection at CNC turning machines so they can confirm that the risk control measures are effective. It is mainly concerned with guard strength. Other means to minimise ejection risks are also considered. The guidance includes a worked example containing sections on (a) how to use the tables on the sheet (these give information on ejection energy and the thickness of polycarbonate and residual impact resistance over time; and (b) taking remedial measures. Contents: Introduction; Legal requirements; Ejection; Engineering controls; Materials; Guard and vision panel fixings; Material impact resistance; Remedial measures; Safe working practices; Further information; References; Further reading; Further information. |
