Abstract Presents the results of the enquiry into the of the collision of a passenger train with the buffer-stops that occurred on 12 August 1987 at Walton-on-Naze Station. As a result of the collission seven people, including the train driver, were taken to hospital. Six other passengers reported slight injuries. Contents: Descriptions; Evidence as to the running of the train and of driving technique; Evidence as to the post-accident investigations; Discussion; Conclusions; Recommendations. The appendix contains a brief description of the brake system.
